We began our travels early in the morning when we headed for Las Vegas, Nevada. It was a cold foggy day in San Francisco, but as soon as we reached the Valley the temperature soared into the nineties. Neither John nor I had ever been to Las Vegas before and were looking forward to seeing what it was all about, and getting a break from the more than eight hour drive. The "Strip" was quite a spectacle and much larger than we imagined. The hotels shaped like the Eiffel Tower and New York City were some of the most creative I've ever seen. We tried to find a room, with all those dwellings, not an empty space was to be found. I was disappointed. I really wanted to walk around and take in all the neon. Traffic was a nightmare, the streets were mobbed with people (many of them children with their families) so we drove from the main area and found a motel further along which left everything to be desired but we were mostly too tired to care. Believe it or not, I'd like to revisit Vegas, check out some of the famous casinos (I don't even gamble) and take in the Cirque du Soliel show called "O" all performed in water. |
