I am standing in four states at once! Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. I'm also surrounded by many Navajo gift shops since this site is on the Navajo Reservation.

A close up of the four corners. You could place your pinky finger in all four states at one time.

After a night of camping in a free campground because the customer in front of us got the last room where we were surrrounded by stray polite dogs, we enter Canyon de Chelly (pronounced "da shay"). By the way, the run-on sentence is my friend so get used to it!

Looking into the canyon. We decided not to do the "Shake & Bake" tour (sitting in an open 4 wheel drive jeep) and instead drove above the canyon for a birds eye view air conditioned tour. Canyon de Chelly is filled with cliff dwellings like Mesa Verde. The only difference is you cannot enter the ruins. They are largely unexcavated and fragile. We had to observe them from a distance.

This is Spider Rock. Down at its base is the remains of an old dwelling, the dwelling of Spider Woman, the originator of all Navajo weaving.
