The pot on this newly issued stamp is created by Lucy Martin Lewis. When I showed the stamp to Evening Star she was very surprised. She said she met the daughter of Lucy once who told her that her work looks like her mother's. This stamp was chosen out of 10 American Indian art stamps to be on t-shirts and pins! I bought a set of the stamps and got them stamped for the first day of issue. They're really terrific.

Kokopelli! Fertility symbol of the ancient people in this area. He plays his flute to bring rain. This figure is used widely from keychains to hotels to symbolize the Southwest. I have always found it cliche´, that is, until I saw the real figure.
