Our first glimpse of the deep red soil. John poses with the contrasting green plants. Zion is the Hebrew word meaning a place of refuge or sanctuary.
The beautiful canyon views and shades of red compelled us to pull off to the side of the road and snap a few pictures.
Rock formations, the result of uplift, tilting and erosion make for immense sculptural monuments to time. Notice the red pavement on the road.
John was the first to get his sandals off and climb the sandstone rocks. If only we had more time to explore more...
